1 John 5:7-8 is perhaps the best two verses that support the doctrine of the trinity in the Bible.
For there are three that testify: 8the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.1 John 5:7-8
However, there is a different version of this verse that seems to be more supportive of the trinity.
In heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.1 John 5:8
The latter has now only been found in eight biblical manuscripts written later. These manuscripts were written much later into the 16th century except for one 10th century manuscript which has the latter version written in a footnote.
Thus, it seems very unlikely that the latter version is the accurate biblical text. All earlier written manuscripts support the first reading of the verse and therefore I think it is best to abstain from promoting the latter version.
What does this say for biblical inerrancy?
Nothing, we can clearly see that the latter version was falsely included into some biblical manuscripts because of how many manuscripts we have! It would be impossible for someone to corrupt the bible.
