In Leviticus, the Bible says that the Jews were not supposed to eat shellfish.

And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcasses in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

Leviticus 11:9-12

First off, the standards of hygiene in Mosaic times are completely different to what we do to clean our food today.

The people of this time didn’t wash their hands, they didn’t have running water, and basically the only way that our cultures are similar is the way that we prepare our foods is that we both cook meat.

Shellfish eat poop, and they are disgusting. Their diet is literally dead fish and other bad stuff.

Nowadays, we can clean every part of the crab, lobster, etc. Also, before we put it in the store we clean them, and honestly I doubt that very many people would eat lobster if all it ate was poop and the stomach and intestines were not removed.

I would never want my dad to let me eat shellfish that hasn’t been cleaned and I don’t think that very many people who question God based on this claim would want to eat that either.

So why would God not tell His Children that shellfish are disgusting and an “abomination” for them to eat?

Simply because, during that time, God was trying to protect his people from harmful food.
