If a religion is given to the people by God, then the religion should never change. This is the claim made by Atheists to try to debunk Christianity.
Christianity has not changed. The ways that we practice Christianity have changed, but the sacrifice of Christ has not changed. The Truth of the “Suffering Servant” has been the same since Isaiah prophesied His coming as documented in Isaiah 53.
The only thing that has changed has been humanity’s understanding of this Truth.
The fact that humans are imperfect and incapable of fully grasping God’s Will, is not evidence, against Christianity. In fact, it perfectly coincides with Christian doctrine, that humans are not perfect, and that we can not fully understand the Word of God, or His Perfect Will.
But even if a “God Given Religion” would never change as atheists claim, this would still not debunk Christianity.
The religious aspect of Christianity is not what is important about Christianity. Jesus never says that if you do this specific list of actions then you will get into heaven. No, what he says is important is:
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:29-31
So many people think of Christianity merely as the physical actions that they can see, going to church, helping the poor, singing worship songs, but this is not true. Those things are only the result of the faith and love that we have for Christ Jesus our Lord.
And that Love that Christians have had for Him has not changed over time. Since the most important and central commandment is to love God, and Jesus is God, then Christianity, at its core, has not changed.
